Though it bathe in the Ganges, will a crow become a swan?

2300. గంధపొడి మోశే గాడిదవలె.
Like a donkey carrying sandal powder.
2301. గంధము అమ్మిన చోట కట్టెలు అమ్మినట్టు.
Like selling firewood where sandal had been sold.
Said of the ruin what once was beautiful.
2302. గడిచి ప్రతికినాము అని గంతులు వెయ్యరాదు.
Don't jump abnout saying you have got through [your difficulties.]
Don't halloo till you are out of the wood.
2303. గడ్డెంత లేకన్ ముడ్డంత యెండీ, వేంచేశనే గుర్రము దేవలొకం.
The horse without grass, dried up and went to Devaloka.
Devaloka is heaven, the 'gods' world.'
2304. గతులకు పోతే, బతుకులు పోయివవి.
When he went to lap, his livelyhood went. When a greedy went to spoon upon another for his brreakfast he who kept waiting so long that lost his situation.
2305. గరుత్మంతుణ్ని చూచిన పాము వలె.
Like a snake seeing Garutmant. Garutmant or Garuda (No.751) was "the king of the featjered tribes, and the aremoraeless enemy of the serpent race." (Vishnu purana--Wilson's trans.)*

2306. గాజుపూసల గనిలో ఘనమయిన మణి కలుగునా.
Will a large gem be found in a crystal bead mine?
2307. గాడిద గాడిదే, గుర్రము గుర్రమే.
An ass is an ass, a horse is a horse.

2308. గాలి వచ్చినప్పుడుగదా తూర్పార పట్టుకోవలెను.
Is it not when the wind blows that you must winnow?

Strike while the iron is hot.
Take time while time is, for time will away.
2309. గుడ్డివాడికి గుడ్డివాడు దారి చూపితే, యిద్దరూ గోతిలో పడతారు.
If a blind man lead a blind man, both will fall into the pit.
2310. గుడ్డివాడు కన్ను రాగోరునా, పోగోరునా.
Will a blind man wish to have an eye or not to have one?
2311. గుద్దులాడిన యింట్లో గుప్పెడు గింజలు నిలవవు.
In a quarrelsome family not a handful of grain will left.
2312. గురికి జానెడు యెచ్చు తక్కువగా కాల్చేవాడు.
A man who misses the mark by a span.
A bad shot.
2313. గురువుకు తగ్గ శిష్యుడు.
A diciple worthy of his Guru.

(29) ఆంద్ర లోకోక్తిచంద్రికాశేషము.
2314.గురువు నిలుచుండి తాగితే, శిష్యుడు పరిగెత్తుతూ తాగుతాడు.
If the Guru drinks standing, the desciple will drink running. According to Hindu practice, water should be drunk sitting.
2315. గుర్రము తోకకు కళ్ళెము పెట్టినట్టు.
Like putting the bnridle on the horse's tail.
To put the card before the horse.
2316. గుర్రము పేరు గోడ అయితే, జీని పేరు మదురు--ఇకను నాకు అంతా తెలుసును అన్నాడట.
If a horse is Goda, then the saddle is Maduru--I don't want to be told more. Said by a Komati who was learning Hindustani from a Mussalman at so much per word. He mistook Ghora (Hind.) "a horse" for Goda (Tel.) "a wall," and with the stingineas common to his caste said he did not want to be told what saddle was as it must be Maduru "coping."
2317. గుర్రానికి ముడ్డి యెండితే, ఆరిక కసువయినా తింటున్నది.
If a horse be satrving it will eat even Arika grass.

2322. గొర్రె ఏడిస్తే తొడేలుకు విచారమా.
When the sheep cries will be wolf be grieved?

2323. గోరు వాస్తే వేలంత, వేలు వాస్తే కాలంత, కాలు వాస్తే తోలంత, రోలు వాస్తే యెంత.
If the nail swell, [it will be] as big as finger; If the finger swell [it will be] as big as leg; If the leg swells [it will be] as big as mortar swell how big [it will be?]
Said in redicule fo a logician.

2324. చంద్రుణ్ణీ చూచి కుక్కలు మొరిగినట్టు.
Like dogs barking at the moon.
