TELUGU PROVERBS.
1404. పక్షి మీద గురి పెట్టి మృగమును వేశినట్టు.
- He aimed at the bird and shot the deer.
- He fired at the pigeon and he killed the crow.
1405. పాండవుల వారి సంపాద్యము దుర్యోధనుల వారి పిండా కూళ్లకు సరి.
- The wealth gained by the Pândavas was only suffiicient for the funerals of the Duryôdhanas ( Kauravas ).

1406. పాకలపాటి వారి రణకొమ్ము.
- The war horn of the Pâkalapâti family.
- Said of a loquacious person.
1407. పాగావంటి బంధువుడూ లేడు, అంగరకావంటి హరాంఖోరూ లేడు.
- There is no relation like your turband, there is no scamp equal to your jacket.
- A turband can be tied so as to hide all holes, which is not the case with the jacket; the turband is therefore likened to a trustworthy friend, and the jacket to an unfaithful fellow.
1408. పాటిమీది గంగానమ్మకు కూటిమీదనే లోకము.
- The goddess Gangânamma who presides over the burial ground, thinks of nothing but eating [the corpses].
- Entirely given to the selfish pursuit of one object.
1409. పాటు కలిగితే కూటికి కొదవా.
- If you get work, will food be wanting?
1410. పాటు పడితే భాగ్యము కలుగును.
- If you are industrious, you will become rich.
