TELUGU PROVERBS.

If I eat I can’t move, if I don’t eat I can’t stir.

Without eating you can’t tell the taste; without going down [into the water] you can’t know the depth.
The proof of a pudding is in the eating.

He’s not worth his food, and is a burden on the earth.
(See No. 1386.)
He is not worth his salt.

He is a Timma Razu (monkey-king) at eating; and a Pota Razu (bufi'alo-king ) at work.
(See Nos. 1a, 518, 138], less. )
As greedy as a monkey and as lazy as a buffalo.
Like the smith’s dog, that sleep: at the sound of the hammer, and wake: at the crashing of the teeth.
He eats tilt ha sweats, and works till he freezes.

Have you come to eat or to visit the shrine ?

No man has ever died from cursing, or lived from blessing.
No one dies of threats. (Dutch)[1]
