TELUGU PROVERBS.
1802. మూశిపెట్టితే, పాశిపోయినది.
- When covered, [the food] became bad.
- The evil consequences of a crime are aggravated by its concealment.
1803. మెచ్చి మేకతోలూ కోరి గొర్రెతోలూ కప్పుతారు.
- If they approve of you they will cover you with a goat skin ; and if they choose you, with a sheepskin.
1804. మెట్టను మాత, పల్లాన భార్య.
- The mother on the edge of the precipice and the wife on the brink of the pool.
- The two having quarrelled each threatens to destroy herself unless the man takes her part.
- A difficult dilemma.
1805. మెట్టనువున్నా యేనుగే, పల్లానవున్నా యేనుగే.
- The elephant is an elephant whether on high ground or low.

1806. మెడ తడవడము పూసల కొరకే.
- Feeling the neck for heads.
- Said of a wheedling scoundrel.
1807. మెరుగు వెయ్యకగాని మృదువుకాదన్నము.
- Rice is not soft unless you put ghî.
1808. మేక మెడ చన్ను.
- The wattle on a goat’s neck.
